SDI is now part of IMS
1/14/2011 - SDI announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by IMS Health, the world’s leading provider of market intelligence to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The agreement is subject to pre-merger notification requirements of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, which will be filed shortly.

The acquisition will enable more robust patient and specialty analytics, and the combined organization will have the ability to provide a broader set of stakeholders with clinically-rich insights from all healthcare channels, including hospitals, providers and pharmacies. SDI’s complementary information assets and capabilities will help to improve IMS’s existing offerings, fuel new investments and deliver greater innovation and value to a healthcare industry that is seeking to drive increased efficiencies as a result of significant, ongoing pressure to reduce costs and expand patient access.
